Additional Information
Parent Conferences
Formal parent conferences are scheduled two times each school year. Parents are encouraged to attend these meetings so that a strong bond develops between home and school. The teacher or parent can schedule informal conferences at any time during the school year. To schedule a conference, parents should call the office and time arrangements will be made. Parents should refrain from calling teachers at home or discussing their child’s progress with teachers outside school hours.
School Office
The school office is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each school day. Parents may call or make appointments during those hours. The school secretary and/or receptionist may be away from their desks for lunch break from 12:45 to 1:15 every day – please be patient during this time.
Security
All doors to the school will be closed and locked during school hours. Parents and visitors should use the buzzer on the main school door to gain entrance to the building. Please assist St. Thomas More School in maintaining a safe environment by only using designated entrances.
Lockers
Students in grades 3 - 8 will use lockers for their personal items and school items. Students may not attach personal items to the outside or inside of school lockers. Lockers must be kept neat and clean at all times. Students must provide their own key or combination lock. St. Thomas More School reserves the right to remove a student lock at any time.
Textbooks
Students are responsible for the condition of the books given to them at the beginning of the year. Students will be required to pay for the book if it is damaged or lost. Textbooks are to be covered at all times and should be transported to and from school in a book bag.
School Supplies
For the convenience of families, supply lists are available each June for the following year. Students provide their own school supplies but are expected to comply with individual teacher requirements.
Milk Break
A milk break is provided for students during the morning hours of each school day starting in mid-September and ending in May. Students may purchase a carton of 2% or chocolate milk for twenty-five cents. Students with milk allergies may opt for a non-dairy drink break.
