Non-Discrimination Policy

The Schools of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, as listed in the Official Directory of Catholic Schools, admit students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at that school. They will not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Each school has the obligation to publicize its non-discriminatory policies in any or all of the following ways:

1. Notice of the non-discriminatory policy should be published in any publication of
the school system or of the specific school

2. notice of the non-discriminatory policy should be published in publications of
    alumnae or alumni groups

3. notice of non-discriminatory policies should be broadly published among students
    and employees.

NOTE: Because of the religious nature of the schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh & their commitment to teach doctrine, only Catholics may be hired. This policy isn't to be considered as discriminatory but protects Catholic Doctrine from adulteration. In some instances, for good reasons, exemption is given by the Superintendent upon request.

“Basically, the Catholic school is called to be a living witness of the love of God among us. It can, moreover, become a means through which it is possible to discern, in the light of the Gospel, what is positive in the world, what needs to be transformed and what in justices must be overcome.”
