Policies of Saint Thomas More School
& The Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools
Teachers, parents and students should review the policies closely and adhere to their guidelines.
The policies will be strictly enforced as stated and
there will be zero tolerance for any actions that deviate from the intent
of the policy.
Any questions should be brought to the attention of
the principal.
The school governance at St. Thomas More School is guided by the policies
and regulations as specified in the Diocesan Principals’ Handbook
( revised 1997) and by the Policies for Financing Elementary School
completed by Father Kris Stubna, S.T.D., Diocesan Secretary of Education.
St. Thomas More School operates as part of a system of Catholic Schools
under the umbrella of the Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools Office. St.
Thomas More School shares many educational aspects with the Diocese
of Pittsburgh. These include curriculum development, standardized testing
procedures, legal policies and guidelines, payroll, insurance and other
educational protocol.
All policies and procedures of the school are presented in the school Parent/Student Handbook as well as our Teachers’ Handbook. To assure accountability and accuracy, these handbooks are reviewed annually by the Pastor, the staff, and the administration with necessary revisions being made after input from and discussion among members of the school community. New handbooks are distributed yearly to staff and new families. Families returning to St. Thomas More receive revisions to add to their handbooks.
